“The strategies I teach are individualized to each student’s unique cognitive style, strengths and weaknesses, and the demands of their major and current project,” says Dr. Paula Brooks Jawitz. Dr. Jawitz provides students with individualized strategies to read, understand and remember content for exams, and plan your time to ensure that you get your assignments completed and be able to sleep, eat, and socialize. “I believe all students have the ability to succeed, and I’m passionate about helping each student develop the tools necessary to unlock his or her potential,” says Barbara Gentry, one of the center’s study and learning specialists. “I work with individuals to develop skills in test preparation, project completion, note taking, reading comprehension, and time management.”

The Student Learning Center (SLC) provides a variety of services to Ringling College students, including writing assistance, test preparation and study skills instruction, help with English as a Second Language and time management.
"We know you work hard—in the studio, the lab, the library—to make your creative dream a reality. Our job at the Student Learning Center (SLC) is to help make those busy days and late nights as productive and stress-free as possible. We are here to empower you to make the most of your Ringling College education, whether that means improving upon existing skills or developing those that may need a little more attention. Our staff will work with you one-on-one to provide customized instruction and guidance in the areas of time management, writing, reading, and test preparation. A service for all Ringling students, the ARC also arranges disability accommodations to ensure everyone can take full advantage of their Ringling College education and life on campus. Basically, we help you make the most of your time here at Ringling College."
