Library Mission and Vision

The mission of the Alfred R. Goldstein Library is to contribute to the academic and professional success of our community by supporting and modeling curiosity, inquiry, inspiration, and knowledge creation in all of its forms.

Our vision is to provide a space for intellectual, social, collaborative, and ethical practice at the center of Ringling College’s campus. We seek to integrate state-of-the-art collections, services, technologies, and facilities into the life and work of our creative community.

Our core values are:

  • Creativity: We facilitate creative solutions by harnessing the powerful ideas and talents of our staff and community. We encourage a culture of exploration, experimentation, and contemplation to improve our services, meet needs, and manage change.
  • Critical Thinking: We empower students by teaching them to locate and assess information and instill them with the skills necessary for academic engagement and lifelong learning.
  • Equity: We seek to defend diverse and equitable ideas, voices, identities, and expressions and to confront institutional bias and structural racism.
  • Ethics: We contribute to a culture of integrity and embolden social responsibility both locally and globally.
  • Presence: We strive to provide welcoming experiences and hands-on services in safe, comfortable spaces while also expanding our visibility and accessibility within the digital environment.
