Fair Use
Columbia University Libraries give a great overview of what constitutes fair use when using others' images, sounds, or films in your work. They explain the four factors of fair use and what they can include.

Fair Use in Journalism and Media

Attribution

Attributing images/visual media makes sure you are giving credit where credit is due.

To attribute the image/visual media make sure you include:

Creator: Who is the author of the work?
Title: What is the name of the image?
Source: Where can you find it? (this includes hyperlinks)*
License: How can you use it?

* Try to not list the source as Google Images, instead look for the link to the original image.

Public Domain

Stanford University Libraries have written an excellent overview that explains the public domain, and closely examines the different ways that materials enter the public domain, and public domain trouble spots.

Library Databases

Searchable backfiles of core journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. (Backfiles end 3 - 5 years prior to current date).
All archival collections in JSTOR are now available through December 31, 2020.

Full text and/or citations for magazine, newspaper, and journal articles in business, science, popular culture, as well as the performing and visual arts.

Library Hours

The first floor and second floors of Goldstein Library are available 24/7 for students, faculty, and staff of Ringling College. A Ringling College ID is required to enter the building after 8pm.

Regular Library Service Hours

(when classes are in session)

Mon - Thu 8AM - 11PM

Friday 8AM - 7PM

Saturday Noon - 6PM

Sunday 10AM - 11PM

Holidays and Breaks

The Library is closed on holidays, as designated by the institution, and typically operates on a Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 4:00PM schedule during breaks.
