Harmful Language and Content Statement
The resources and materials listed here include historic materials that may contain outdated language that can be harmful due to issues such as racism, colonialism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Language can provide important insight and context into the creator(s) and historical period in which it was written. However, it can also reveal hurtful biases, prejudices, and beliefs. We advise students explore these materials with discretion and consider the era(s) in which they were created.
If we find problematic language being utilized in finding aids, research guides, item descriptions, etc. we will work to address it. If language within a resource causes concern, we will work to provide more context for the item.
Any questions or concerns can be sent to research@ringling.edu
