Google Gemini

Google Gemini (formerly Bard) is now available using your @c.ringling.edu Google account.  Google Gemini is Google’s conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) service.  You can access it by going to https://gemini.google.com/.  You can find instructions on how to use Google Gemini here.

Before using this service, please read and understand these guidelines.

Google Guidelines

  • Use of this system is covered under Google’s terms of service
  • Users under 18 years of age are ineligible to use Gemini.  

College Guidelines

  • If you intend to use this software in a course, faculty need to ensure that they don’t have students under 18 in their class.  If you do, an alternative solution needs to be found.
  • Google Gemini may NOT be used with any sensitive College data that is considered private, protected, or restricted.
  • All data entered into Google Gemini should be considered public.

Permission to use your content

Full details are posted online, but the following section of the Google agreement will address many of your questions.

This license allows Google to:

  • host, reproduce, distribute, communicate, and use your content — for example, to save your content on our systems and make it accessible from anywhere you go
  • publish, publicly perform, or publicly display your content, if you’ve made it visible to others
  • modify and create derivative works based on your content, such as reformatting or translating it
  • sublicense these rights to:
  • other users to allow the services to work as designed, such as enabling you to share photos with people you choose
  • our contractors who’ve signed agreements with us that are consistent with these terms, only for the limited purposes described in the Purpose section below
